LONDON: A unique photographic exhibition featuring a century of the most stylish and iconic women will take place, 3-26 November 2005, at the Getty Images Gallery, 46 Eastcastle Street, London W1.
Brigitte Bardot, Madonna and Princess Diana will rub shoulders with ordinary women in this stunning collaboration between the Getty Images Gallery and the legendary French liqueur, Cointreau.
Whether black and white or colour, each photograph is a visual celebration of what it means to Be Cointreauversial - capturing a mood and strength of spirit that is stylish, original and timeless. Besides famous faces from today and yesterday, inspirational shots of everyday individual, yet equally charismatic, women will be displayed.
From classic early 20th century photographs to contemporary moments, every woman overflows with confidence and joie de vivre before the lens, whilst also revealing a warm and sensual side.
Images range from a playful Audrey Hepburn relaxing on set and Elizabeth Taylor sipping a drink at Jersey airport, to fashion icon Sienna Miller clutching a cocktail after her London stage début.
Louise Garczewska, Getty Images Gallery director, said: "This exhibition presents a new take on our modern-day infatuation with celebrities. While many of the individuals pictured are famous, their celebrity status is almost superfluous to the photographs: what is interesting is the way the subjects express themselves. This is what marks them out as timeless and iconic."
Corinne Notebaert, director of heritage at Cointreau, said: "To be Cointreauversial is a celebration of originality, flair and boldness of attitude. Above all, it expresses an individuality. This distinctive collection represents all these attributes in different and surprising ways."
Be Cointreauversial is a long-term initiative that will also showcase new, commissioned photographs, and invite submissions for a Cointreauversial image of the year. After opening in London it will tour several countries worldwide, including France, China and Japan.
Photographers featuring in the exhibition include Dave Benett, Terry Fincher, Bert Hardy, Terry O'Neill, Daniel Smith and Justin de Villeneuve.
Cointreau and Getty Images Gallery will host a private view cocktail party on 3 November 2005 attended by celebrities. Sumptuous Cointreau cocktails, including the Cosmopolitan - the Sex And The City girls' favourite - will be a highlight.
